Tulbagh

The secluded Valley, Eden of Africa is a 75 minutes scenic drive from the Mother City Cape Town.

Tulbagh lies on the northern edge of the beautiful fertile Breede River Valley. The Valley, was first discovered

 in 1658 by Pieter Potter, surveyor General of Jan Van Riebeek, the first Commander of the Cape.

 In 1700 14 Farmers settled in what was to become known as Tulbagh. However, the town only developed in

 1743 when the first Church was built.  Hit by an earthquake  6.4 on the Richter Scale on the 29 the of

 September 1969  Tulbagh became well known.

Today Tulbagh is still one of the best kept secrets of the wine lands, yet about to be discovered by national 

and international newcomers, warmly welcomed by the  open minded members of the community.

The Tulbagh Valley, Eden of Africa offers (apart from peace, fresh air, beauty and tranquility) all the

 necessary facilities. There are 3 major banks, an experienced team of doctors, Several Churches, shops, a

 post office, crafters,  builders, plumbers, painters, carpenters, restaurants,  shops, food markets and not to

 forget the well known fruit farms and  internationally renowned wine estates like: Twee Jonge Gezellen,

 Theuniskraal Wines, Drosdty, Montpellier and Rijk`s Private Wine Cellar, Manley Wines, Saronsberg Cellar,

 Lemberg Estate, De Huevel, Blue Crane Vineyards, Bucks Ridge, Schalkenbosch - Edenhof Wines, Tulbagh

 Winery.

Route from Cape Town via Wellington

Take the N1, northbound, from Cape Town towards Paarl. Turn left at the (R44) Wellington /Klapmuts" 

(Exit 47) off ramp, heading left towards Wellington after 10 Km you come to a four way stop

Cross over the four way stop and after approximately 2 ½ km's turn left, this is a continuation of the R44.

 This road leads towards Ceres . You'll drive through the scenic Nuwe Kloof Pass 

and after approximately 5 km you'll see a turn off to Tulbagh - take a left here. 

Continue straight with the road until you reach a T-junction  stop sign - turn left , and then left again into

  Vos Street. We are No 7 Vos Street - at the beginning of Church Street.
